Anime Zero Evolution Guide

Anime Zero evolution guide: how to unlock a weapon ultimate at the Evolution NPC, plus Shadow Monarch, Crimson Eclipse, Solar Radiance and Aizen routes.

10/31/2026 Update 5 Last updated: 10/31/2026 4 min read

Last checked: October 31, 2026. Exact material counts differ between lists and can change with patches, so treat the Evolution panel in game as the final source for your weapon. The routes and material names below are the stable part; the panel gives you the exact counts for your current version.

How do I evolve a weapon in Anime Zero?

Every weapon starts capped at a basic attack and three skills, with the fourth slot sealed until you run it through Evolution. Awakening fills that slot with its ultimate ability, finishing the moveset and giving you a second heavy-hitting skill for boss fights and raids.

  1. Open the Areas menu from the lobby and select Evolution. This teleports you to the Evolution zone where the NPC stands.
  2. Interact with the Evolution NPC and choose the weapon you want to awaken.
  3. Read the full requirement list on the panel and scroll to the bottom, because some entries sit below the first screen.
  4. Gather every listed material and currency. The panel shows your owned count next to the required count, so you can see exactly what is still missing.
  5. Return to the NPC once all counts are met and select Evolve Character.

What should I evolve first?

Evolve the main weapon you use to clear runs, and keep its required materials aside before crafting optional accessories. Resources spent evolving one weapon are not refunded and do not transfer to another weapon, so settle on your anchor weapon before investing. If you are still choosing a main, check the weapon tier list first, and redeem codes on the Anime Zero codes page for the spins and rerolls you will need before evolving.

How does Shadow Monarch evolution work?

Shadow Monarch is the exception to the one-step rule, with a separate, multi-stage Monarch Path. Its three stages are The System, Arise: Igris, and Demon King’s Longsword. Stage 1 gives a damage-per-level bonus during a run, Stage 2 has Igris fight with you, and Stage 3 gives longer basic attacks and +50% basic-attack damage. Its ultimate is Monarch’s Domain, and activating it a second time is reported to summon Kaisel.

Reported stage costs, to confirm on your panel, are: Stage 1, 20 Fine Cloth, 8 Magic Pendants, 25 Shadow Essences, 10 Igris Crests, 1,000,000 Coins, and 10,000 Gems; Stage 2, Shadow Essences reported as 47 or 48, 12 Igris Crests, 2,400,000 Coins, and 19,000 Gems; Stage 3, 80 Shadow Essences, 24 Igris Crests, 15 Shadow Cloaks, 5 Monarch’s Blessings, 4,000,000 Coins, and 32,000 Gems. Shadow materials come from Shadow Gate.

How do Crimson Eclipse and Solar Radiance work?

Crimson Eclipse and Solar Radiance are Life weapons, outside the Arsenal summon pool, and each has two stages: obtain, then awaken. Crimson Eclipse is crafted from Tidal High-Rise materials, including Shear Fragments, Crimson Ribbons, and Thread Chokers, then awakened with a second set of materials plus 6,500,000 Coins and 13,500 Gems. Solar Radiance drops from the Evil Reflection raid on Nightmare, then is awakened with Fine Cloth, Soul Fragments, Magic Pendants, Forbidden Fruit, Pure Sword Shards, Hunter’s Stars, and Pure Quills, plus 8,000,000 Coins and 15,000 Gems. Awakening Solar Radiance also unlocks a duo ultimate with Shadow Monarch.

How does Absolute Illusion awakening work?

Absolute Illusion, Aizen’s Celestial weapon from Update 5, awakens with Fine Cloth, Soul Fragments, Magic Pendants, Hogyoku Ribbons, Shattered Zanpakuto, Illusion Lenses, and Captain’s Haori, plus materials from HXH Act 4 and West City. Its awakening lasts 25 seconds and gives a stronger skill set and a dragon ultimate, which is separate from permanent evolution, so do not confuse the temporary awakened state with the permanent ultimate unlock.

Where do evolution materials come from?

Materials drop from enemies and bosses across Story, Infinite, raids, and Trials, and each weapon pulls from its own set. Story Mode is the most direct place to target a specific material, because the stage-select screen tells you which items come from which act. If a material has not dropped after five runs in an act that can drop it, material pity guarantees it on the next run, which is covered in the pity and rolls guide. If the evolve button does nothing, check your inventory against the full panel first, because the usual cause is a missing material below the fold, not a broken weapon.
